Whether you use a real estate agent or not, looking at Calgary homes can be difficult. You can save yourself time and frustration by only looking at homes you want to see and that suite you. There are things you can do to make sure you see the best houses for you and waste no time in moving in.
1) Have a concrete list of things you need, want and dislike. Before you go out or meet your real estate agent take the time to write down the things that you truly cannot live without; the need. Then the things you would like to have but will not stop you from seeing that home; the want. And finally things you cannot stand and really dislike; the dislikes.
2) Get pre-approved. Go to your lender, bank or mortgage associate and get approved from a maximum amount. This will give you the range you can buy in. The worst thing you can do is look at homes that you cannot afford. You waste time and energy and then figure out that you cannot get the home you love. If you use a real estate agent they can usually refer you to someone.
3) Take notes. Some of the best Realtors® out there will give you a sheet and clipboard to work with. Take a lot of notes on the houses you see. This might seem silly but when you are looking at your 12th home they start to blend together. Being able to look back on your notes to see what you liked or disliked in a certain home can save valuable time and aggravation later on.
Follow these three simple suggestions and I guarantee that you will save time, aggravation and make the whole experience of looking at Calgary homes much more enjoyable.
